During 2025, HelEx took part in the Pollineco Annual Conference, focused on pollinator ecology and monitoring. Pollineco brings together researchers developing new approaches to study flower-visiting insects and the ecological services they provide.
Stan Chabert (INRAE) presented HelEx results on the detection of floricolous insects from images, combining field protocols, annotated datasets and machine-learning models. The presentation highlighted the opportunities and the remaining challenges of deploying such systems at the scale of a European project.
Contributing to Pollineco gives HelEx a direct dialogue with the ecological modelling community and strengthens the link between the project’s monitoring tools and the scientific frameworks used to interpret pollinator data.
